Our 2014 Annual Meeting will be hosted by South Carolina Political Collections, a unit of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. Please join us for a wonderful program.
The meeting will take place on May 14-16. Columbia, located in the geographic center of South Carolina, is a city of over 130,000 including some 27,000 students enrolled at the University’s main campus. USC Libraries is a member of the Association of Research Libraries, a group of 125 institutions in the US and Canada. As with all major research libraries, USC is now focused on its special collections, which include the South Caroliniana Library, whose broad holdings document the state’s history; the Moving Image Research Collection, which has a significant Movietone News collection; and, in the Hollings Library, SCPC plus the Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections. Hollings, where we will meet, opened in 2010 and is also home to the Libraries’ digital collections unit.
The Inn at USC, a Wyndham property [http://www.innatusc.com/], will offer a special rate of $120/room to attendees. The Inn provides parking for guests and is a pleasant four-block walk from the Library.
May weather is usually delightful, with lows around 60 and highs in the upper 80s. The campus will be quiet as classes will not be in session.
